TopWhat is Child Centred Play Therapy?

Research has found Play Therapy to be an effective, therapeutic approach for a variety of children’s difficulties. Some of these include excessive anger, fear, sadness, worry and shyness, adjusting to family changes, sleeping and eating difficulties or grief and loss related to trauma and/or family disfunction or breakup.

Play Therapists will most frequently offer individual Child Centred Play Therapy sessions for children from 2 to 12 years old who are experiencing psychosocial, emotional, behavioural or developmental difficulties and who are assessed as being suitable for such intervention.

Child Centred Play Therapy is a humanistic, heartfelt and evidence based form of counselling or psychotherapy for children. It provides the opportunity to work with young children who are experiencing emotional, psychosocial, behavioural and/or developmental difficulties and to really make a difference in their lives and the lives of their families.
